The former Centro space on 6 W. Hubbard is about to undergo a major makeover. Imperial Lamian, introduced to us by the Indonesian-based Imperial Group, guarantees to bring a deluxe taste of Asian cuisine to the Chicago food scene.
The stunning new space, conceived by design firm Metaphor Interior Architecture, will feature an innovative mix of raw timber and stone mosaic tiles. The restaurant is divided into unique spaces, which will facilitate both intimate dining experiences and large corporate events. A cutting-edge open kitchen permits guests to view three master chefs prepare traditional and neo-traditional Chinese dishes.
The menu focuses on lamian, (la meaning pull, mian meaning noodle) tipping a hat to its namesake and will be divided into different sections: traditional wok dishes, xiao long bao, and hand-pulled noodles.
Chicago boasts an extensive array of high end ethnic cuisine, but is currently lacking in upscale Chinese fare. Imperial Lamian will more than meet those demands, while offering a fresh breath of exotic flavor to the scene.
